Was There a 2nd Gunman on the 4th Floor?
Last night, I made the following declaration: “I have dismissed the 4th-floor shooter rumors. Why? Because in the morning light, there are no windows broken on that floor – only two in the 32nd floor.” Well, overnight, I got videos showing purported muzzle flashed coming from the 4th floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel, plus someone – whom I will not name – who said that the bottom 4 floor had windows that would open. So, I spent the day trying to build a case for the 4th floor gunman. The first question was why are the two videos which show purported muzzle flashes from the 4th floor – why is the audio out of sync? Look at this video taken from quite a distance from the Mandalay Bay. Using triangulation I was able to calculate that this video was shot from here, about 1,226 feet away. Why was the distance critical? Because obviously, the muzzle flashes do not sync up with the audio. Perhaps if I moved the audio track up 1.22 seconds to account for the delta between the speed of light and the speed of sound, it would sync up. But that would leave the problem of the cab driver’s video which is clearly out of sync, and yet the distance is less than 100 feet away. That was a problem for me. Another problem: Why didn’t other people on the 4th floor report the insanely loud noise, like those on the 31st and 32nd floor did? I had no answer for that one either. Finally, I got a brilliant idea; why not call up the Mandalay Bay and ask if they had a room with a window that would open? And – oops – the answer was; no! All windows are sealed. The young desk clerk said that every other floor on the back of the Bellagio had some windows which would open, but nothing at the Mandalay Bay. And that was it – my entire day’s work went down the drain. Oh well, tomorrow is another day. I needed a haircut, so off I went, and here’s the result.
